Laurie is an experienced social worker having worked for several years with a multitude of life issues that includes addiction, codependency, mood disorders, among a multitude of life issues and major life transitions. For more than 20 years Laurie has worked with psychiatric disorders and addiction both inpatient and outpatient. She has supported Hearts for Heroes as a certified EAGALA Mental Health Provider and certified Equine Specialist since 2014. She is an EAGALA Military Designated Provider and is currently pursuing Advanced EAGALA Certification.

Barbara has worked with Hearts for Heroes since 2014 as a certified EAGALA Mental Health Provider. She has spent more than 20 years of treating adults and adolescents with issues varying from depression, anxiety to relationships and career challenges. Her expertise in trauma crisis intervention has come from years of working with victims of violent crime and survivors of sexual assault. Barbara is also certified in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) a comprehensive integrative psychotherapy approach for treatment of trauma and PTSD.

Professional experience includes: *Coordinator of the Rape Crisis Program including supervision of the 24 hour Helpline, Victims Assistance Services. White Plains, NY. *Coordinator of the Parents Learning Understanding and Support Program, (an early intervention parenting support program) and Clinical Social Worker, The Guidance Center, New Rochelle, NY. * Coordinator of the Village Youth Team, a community service program for teenagers in the City of New Rochelle, NY.

Elsa is a LMHC who has worked since 2005 counseling and treating children, adolescent, families and adults who have experienced trauma, anxiety and attachment disorders. She has worked with Hearts for Heroes since 2015 providing mental health support for veterans and assisted in the adoption of emotional support dogs at FDR Veterans Hospital in Montrose, NY. In addition to providing New York licensed mental health care support during our five day canine handling cliinics, she conducts home site evaluation addressing transitional questions as they arise for New York veterans. Elsa is also a certified EAGALA Mental Health Care Provider supporting New York Equine programs in Equine Assisted Learning and Equine Assisted Psychotherapy.

Sherry Lyerly-Tarner, MS, LPC, RT, RYT is the Owner and Lead Professional Counselor of Pure Wellness & Healing in Charlotte, NC. She is a licensed professional counselor, a yoga teacher, and a Reiki Master Teacher. Sherry holds a Masters Degree in Mental Health Counseling, is a Registered Yoga Teacher, and certified teacher of Color Me Yoga for Children. Sherry is also a long-time practitioner of mindfulness-based meditation and is trained in teaching the Mindful Schools curriculum. She studied Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction in Education with Jon Kabat-Zinn in New York, and is also a former teacher of Language Arts & Gifted Education.

Sherry currently counsels individuals, couples, and families, while also leading groups, workshops and classes in yoga, mindfulness, stress-reduction & Reiki for adults & teens. Sherry has been part of the Hearts for Heroes team for three years as an EAGALA certified mental health professional and is working to incorporate yoga and mindfulness workshops to support these programs.
